Linux Architect

The LINUX ARCHITECT will represent his/her department towards the Business Units and project teams and will assure a determining role the design, implementation and efficiency of virtual infrastructure solutions in Asia, specifically on RedHat technologies. He/she will be positioned as a technical design authority in the organization, using also his/her expertise for highest level of escalation in case of problems.
This person must have deep knowledge in infrastructure
technologies and in RedHat features, and must be able to lead, operate and continuously improve the environments distributed across 100+ servers throughout Asia.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Technical Consulting Services (architecture & design)
a. Providing subject matter expertise in the form of non-functional requirements to projects and strategic Linux initiatives
b. Attending to ongoing compliance requirements - advise on Linux Infrastructure related security fixes, identification and treatment of platform risks (Kerberos, LDAP, Active Directory integration)
c. Able to design and influence Architect team on Linux platform key decisions
d. Work with vendors and provide Road Map strategy for all virtual platforms
e. Select and implement tools (applications or scripts) to manage efficiently the Linux environment: automation of operations, supervision, application package deployment and upgrades
2. Functional/Operational Enhancement
a. Pro-active in ensuring stability, response time and operational consistency over the Linux Infrastructures
b. Contribute to continuous-improvement cycle for all functional/operational matters relating to all Linux platforms
c. Process automation
d. ITIL disciplines
e. Technical & process solutions for complex operational scenarios
f. Working closely with partner teams (Systems, Network and Security) to deliver best-of-breed customer service outcomes.
3. Support
a. Senior escalation points for all Linux-related technical matters globally across ESSILOR
b. Lead all the problem records of Linux Platforms and own them till resolution
c. Provide Life Cycle Management Strategy for all Linux Platforms
d. Prepare Baseline Matrix (Firmware & Device Drivers) for all Linux Platforms
e. Initiate Service Improvement programs
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Participate to the search and qualification of related Linux solutions such as monitoring/management/administration tools
2. Provide monthly reports on activity, quality and performance of these System Infrastructures.
3. Ensure appropriate documentation, including procedures for the Operations departments.
Qualifications
• Deep technical subject matter expertise and practical experience in Linux technologies: Minimum RHCE certified (non-nego)
• Experience working with high-density HPE Enterprise Hardware – (E.g HPE MoonShot and Proliant Servers)
• Extensive experience working with Linux automation in large scale in IaC format. (E.g., Ansible, Azure/AWS APIs, Terraform)
• Experience in managing Microsoft Azure based cloud platforms.
• Extensive experience with Linux deployment in large scale
• Extensive knowledge in at least one of the major UNIX/Linux scripting languages (Shell/Perl/Python).
• Experience creating Linux binary packages from source (RPM/DPKG)
• Enterprise Linux administration skills, preferably based on RedHat Enterprise Linux, CentOS and Debian/Ubuntu LTS.
• Experience with Linux virtualization, especially QEMU (Linux KVM)
• Extensive experience in automation of Linux system monitoring (E.g. Zabbix/Nagios/Prometheus/Icinga/Cacti)
• Extensive experience with automated Linux OS and application installation. (e.g. Kickstart)
• Exposure FreeBSD preferrable.
• Exposure Enterprise SIEM (E.g., Splunk) preferrable.
• Exposure with embedded Linux preferrable.
• Working knowledge with Microsoft Active Directory.
• Working knowledge with Azure AD and SAML based Single Sign-On solutions.
• Working knowledge with VMWare.
• Working knowledge with Microsoft Windows Server and desktop operating systems.
• Exposure with IT security concepts.
• Detailed understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts
• High level understanding of Web Services / SOA architecture, SaaS and PaaS in Microsoft Azure is desirable.

• Knowledge in Network configuration
• Experience of Thin/Zero Client architecture
